Description

A Great Blue Heron arrived in Hampstead, New Hampshire this morning. Our pond is full of frogs and small fish. This Heron spent the day reducing the frog population. I can only think that s/he is on their way south for the winter. I will try for a full body photo tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

in other words, you'll get the shot because the Heron will be too fat to fly after the feasting!!!! Great head shot Dana

He is gorgoeus. :))))) I can't blame him for moving South for the winter. LOL!!! :))))) It sounds like he had a most wonderful day to fill his tummy before finishing his journey. :)))) Most excellent capture my friend. :))))) Thank you for sharing all of the beauty you see. :)))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :))))

Great portrait! He´s so skinny that I doubt he could get fat so soon as Mike thinks! So better you hurry with the camera, before he left the pond. I think he,s only filling the tank and resting after a long travel.

You have Herons and I have Geese.....Though I have no digital to show the invasion you'll just have to take my word....lol...Day before I had well over a hundred at one point........Every year the flocks seem to grow bigger....You don't think it's all the bread crumbs I throw out there is it Dana???...lol....I don't think they could fit another one in my small pond....One leaves and instantly one arrives....lol..looked like an airport for crying out loud...hahaha...

What a surprise to see him in NH. I never recall ever seeing any herons in CT. I have seen photos of them in snow so I guess I just missed them. A stunning portrait. Hope you can catch the rest.
