Arrik wasted no time in making contact with one of his oldest friends and compatriots. They had been through many adventures over the centuries. How many of these puny human kingdoms had they seen come and go, they couldn't begin to count. But Arrik found it diverting to mingle with them from time to time, pretending to be a magician, counselor, strategist or whatever the times called for. He and his trusty dragon, Sir Duke, had a connection that transcended time and space. They wasted no time speeding to the location of the Ogre's castle. 'Oh no! Not this luny bird again', thought Sir Duke. Arrik and Sir Duke thought projected an image of a lone eagle flying over the desolate valley looking for prey to any human-like lifeforms that might see their approach so as not to arouse suspicion if any of the Ogre's minions happened to be looking skyward. They flew into the Ogre's valley just as the sun was setting. A strange looking cloud was hovering above the Ogre's castle, which they both took as a bad sign. Arrik thought to himself, only a fool or a mad man would enter this valley willingly. So what am I doing returning to one of my old enemies? Must maintain the element of surprize, Arrik mind thought to Sir Duke as they swooped closer to the castle. We'll have to drop below these outcroppings and I'll go the rest of the way on foot, thought Arrik. Sir Duke coasted to a perfect landing well below the view of anyone from the castle and Arrik dismounted. 'I'll let you know if I run into any trouble', he thought to Sir Duke.
