Description

"On a dry afternoon in October the story has it that the Princes of Dalriata met on St Euinanne's Isle, to give their solemn oaths, and 'blood sign' the Agreement of Ladomnahn. Negotiated by the Brotherhood of the Dove, this bound the feuding lords to respect the rights of non-combatants in the Auld Shores. No longer would the sighting of galleys of a rival spell death and destruction for the fishermen, herders, farmers, hunters, millers and axemen of the Thousand Isles. Warfare did continue, but on another level. War was no longer the first resort of a disgruntled or an affronted lord, but the last resort, and much less bloody for that. For a few decades this new Agreement would herald a new era of co-operation, discovery and advances in technology which would bind the Auld Folk together, and, in time, save them from the ravages of the Breinne Kingdom to the south. No more would there be easy pickings for the Ravenlords". CARDEC'S TALES OF THE LONG ISLES, Candle Press, Eudainstoun, Dalriada. A short excerpt from the tales of Auld Dalriata, inspired by a short session with Planetside's classic TERRAGEN landscape generation program, and some postwork using Serif's PHOTOPLUS X5 with the ever reliable photoshop compatible uber-plugin FILTER FORGE 3. As the last leaves fall, and cold mornings remind us here in Scotland that Autumn is advanced, with winter not so far away, I would like to wish you all a week of peace, joy and wonder ahead. May our Blessed Father, in His love and power give you and your loved ones what you need, when you need it. Be assured that He will carry you through. God bless all, and good night. John.
