Description

She's tired, it shows in her eyes, but this is her job, summer job, town to town, coast to coast.... set up, run her games, sleep, work, tear down.... on to the next town, the next event, the stampede, the fair.... but she wouldn't trade it for anything in the world right now.... The Carny, you've seen them, young, and old... the companies come in, set up the booths, the rides, the food.... kids, their first experiences away from home, older Carnies, been doing this for years, it's their life, it's what they do...Town to town, never really seeing the places they get to, because, they have to work the shows... they set up a bond with the others, the vagabonds, gypsy travellers....years from now, she can look back on this experience, this time on the road, when she was younger, when she was a Carny.... I went as a wide shot with this image for a specific reason... other photogs would have zoomed in on her face, she is pretty, and they would have ended up with a picture of a pretty girl... I went wide... ended up with a picture of a pretty girl in her world, happy in her world.... I'm reminded of a line from a David Wilcox song "Breakfast at the Circus" "nobody's gonna love you, it you don't tear down, breakfast at the circus, with the lions and the clowns.." comments welcome, please enjoy peace, love, and bubblegum

Absolutely fantastic shot! Love the way you got the whole booth with all the prizes in there. Magical. What a face. I know a guy who did this. Him and his wife actually. They delivered the rides, set them up, and then worked them during the engagement. Wonderful picture, my friend!

i had a schoolfriend and his family travelled on the fairs ,i think he still does. yep at the end of the season you have baggy eyes lol. i did 2 seasons (good extra money)but i was clever enough to get me the barman job.lots of booze and girls,but after the 3 weeks i had it lol. every night till 03:00 and then out with one (or two) girls bla..bla.. the next morning Jim Beam, breakfast,and beerfarts...... etc............
