Description

Here is my son "Trad" . All of the lava rocks around him are hot except the rocks beneath him. The heat is very intense in there and if you are not wearing protection, you need to step back or get out after a few seconds. The air is hot, so hold your breath and keep that camera steady. The way out is towards me. Alternate escape route (emergency only) is anything that’s grey, not moving and towards the cooler area. Lava will harden fast and its hard to break. There is lava beneath the rocks before me as you can see a glow in the video. Again I have fast forward the video as the ooze here moves very slow as you will see.... Clic on "Trad" . Aloha and thank you for viewing

@Ilona....Don't buy expensive shoes, wear and tear is fast on the lava terrain. Thanks for asking :)

Excellent capture and awesome video! :) It's amazing to watch part of the world being created right before your eyes! :D I have to admit your son is not one for getting cold feet when it comes to doing something dangerous. ;)

Looks like an orange butterfly amidst all the grey desolation in this masterful shot, Errol. I wonder if an air tight, heat resistant suit with an oxygen tank would be a wise choice when cavorting about this stuff.

Stunning captures of this beautiful but frightening place. With your video speeded up it surely looks to be coming at you so quickly. I'm glad in reality it goes slow to enable you to get out of the way.
