Description

Taken as I exited this amazing little notch we've just explored. This stitch looks back toward "The Wake", just around the corner and to the right. From here the trek will continue upwards in the opposite direction. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2377806.jpg

If I were still teaching physical geography I would want this shot to illustrate a classic uncomformity. The break between the underlying dune field and the overlying riverine is about as classic as you can possibly get. The American Southwest was my hunting ground for years.

I grew up in a neighborhood that still had sandstone-slab sidewalks. I loved them. They were hell to skate on but I learned. Lol. This reminds me of them. I can always imagine the waters swirling through these places, creating these wonderful sculptures you've so beautifully captured in these photos Dana. Wonderful shot and pov!

Fantastic capture. It has been said that Nature is the greatest artist. The formation on the left could be called 'Layer Cake'.
