Description
Late Fall 1942 Somewhere in the Solomon Islands.
All is quiet prior to beginning a night time sortie.
The Destroyer is a Gleaves Class. ALmost the same size and build as the earlier pictured Benson CLass. The big external difference between the two was the smoke stacks. They were used interchangably during the war.
The second ship is a New Orleans Class Cruiser.
The black ball flying from the yards on the destroyer indicates that it is at anchor.
This particular Gleave was armed with 4 5"inch guns, two twin 40mm AA guns and 4 20mm AA guns.
It does have the latest radars and IFF antennas.
Now will some one turn that #&%@@#$ searchlight out!!!!
Ships done in Wings 3d Vue 7I for the rest. No post work .
