whirling dancing, stepping in the beats of the drum, focussed and driven.... driven by the skill honed from years of practice, years of competing, years of living in the traditions of his ancestors... this young man is performing a Prairie Chicken Dance... colourful costumes, accurate to a degree only found in museums,.... focussed on the accuracy of the dance, focussed on the steady beat of the drum..... more than tradition, more than history... it's in his soul.... at stampedes and fairs all across the country, First Nations are welcomed to display their heritage to all who come... at the end of the exhibition, all in the crowd are asked to come up and join hands, dancing in a circle.. a circle of family... the family of man. More from the Medicine Hat Stamped, this summer... even tho it was serious hot (around 85F, for those not metrically bound), the dancers and the drummer performed admirably, beautifully, with heart and soul.. and everytime I hear about TV shows like "So you think you can dance" and "dancing with the stars".. I have to laugh... if these overpriced celebs want to dance... they should try this stuff... separates the wheat from the chaff... for Madbat, and those in warmer climes snowed last night, came out and had to sweep the snow off my car...only about 7 inches... not much, a light dusting... hah! comments welcome, please enjoy!
