Description

Just down from the Sun building in my last photo is this relic from the past. I asked the girls at my hotel reception what it was and it was apparently a house... and no-one has lived there for decades. This place survived the war, only to lie empty and decaying. Again it's a building in the wrong place... all around it are modern blocks and flats and offices/shops... and there's this. Thanks for looking. Iain

It's strange that even though it's rotting away it has more colour than the blocks around it... everything is grey except for the plants and awning... funny how green is the dominant colour here... I never even noticed that.

Oh yeah ..... this house I had also photographed. The wonderful contrast in the middle of new homes this lovely old dilapidated house. I put myself in dieZeit where people have lived in it. A piece of past. Super shot!

The House and the Sun building are near a covered shopping arcade called Satake Street, which has a fair number of old buildings in there. I'm guessing you've been there Julie? Nice to know someone else on Rendo who has seen it ^_^

These photos are great, I've always had a fascination for old buildings and as Chipka said about the previous picture, these have the feeling of being both familiar and at the same time, alien. If you have other photos of your urban exploration in Japan, please do post them.

Great image - and again, it would make a great 3D model! You have the textures already....

Reminds me of one place I love to film. North Willimsburg in Brooklyn! Excellent capture!

A shame a building with so much history and character is left to rot. You could argue that it's the other buildings that are out of place. Fine image Iain.

Brilliant colour and texture, I suppose it has to be neglected to look 'so good', aged like a fine wine....shaping up for a great series. The idea of modeling some of these is growing on me.....not sure if you have plans but may I 'borrow' a couple of these photos to play with ?...
