Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Oh bother, what a grim, dour crew we have sitting up on the platform, seemingly bored stiff with the whole routine. Anyway, heartfelt congratulations to your son on his belated graduation.

I love this! The postwork and lighting really give it a painted look and add personality to each face. They do look bored, but are very interesting to study. There are slight variations that are fun to think about. The lady on the far left has decided what to do about her disobedient son, and judging from her slight, satisfied smile, he is not going to like it. The man sitting to her left is wondering why the professor currently speaking still has a job, and how much longer he is going to speak such twaddle. The person who can barely be seen behind him is not bored at all. While he pretends to be reading the pamphlet on the graduating seniors, he is really reading a Terry Pratchett paperback. His only problem is being sure not to chuckle too loudly. The lady seen over his right shoulder has pasted a slight smile on her face and left her body. She is currently astroplaning over the English Channel. The lady on her left is very definitely in her body and has just understood words spoken to her by a colleague. They were not complimentary. The man in the front is considering that a fancy blue robe, gold tassels, and an honorary seat in the front, are all very well but a back seat and a good book would be better. The man over his left shoulder has truly reached the highest stage of boredom. He has reached the "Dear God, just kill me now" stage. For his sake, I hope the graduation ceremonies are nearing an end. Congratulations to Mark!
