William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk) William Shatner is an actor and writer from Quebec born March 22, 1931 in Montreal, Quebec. It is known to the public for the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek television series. William Shatner was born in Côte Saint-Luc, a suburb of Montreal, and is the son of Anne (born Garmaise) and Joseph Shatner, a clothing designer. He has two sisters, Joy and Farla. His paternal grandfather, Wolf Schattner, anglicized his name to a family "Shatner". The grandparents were Jewish immigrants Shatner from Austria, Poland, Hungary, and Ukraine. It was therefore higher in Conservative Judaism. He attended Willingdon Elementary School in the Montreal neighborhood of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, and Baron Byng High School and West Hill still in the same city. This is also in that institution as a building named after him. He then distinguished the Stratford Ontario Festival (Stratford Festival of Canada) where he made a Shakespearean interpretation. He made his television debut as a Ranger Bill and cinema in The Brothers Karamazov.
