Description
This is part of my great 2012 Xmas Gift Art Project. I'd very much appreciate any feedback you may have as this is a gift for a friend (whom I haven't given it to yet) and I want it to be the best it can be before I print it. Thank you!
I know, Temple of Doom wasn't the best Indiana Jones movie by far but it still had some classic scenes in it (and it's better than Crystal Skull). I think the scenes at Club Obi Wan and then the escape from the temple are some of the best scenes of any movie so, here's something inspired by those Club Obi Wan scenes.
I mainly created this as an Xmas/birthday present for my friend Stevie who is a huge Indiana Jones/Harrison Ford fan (she actually likes Crystal Skull) and she once gave me a postcard of Indy from the scene I tried to recreate. I hope she likes me rendition! I spent a lot of time on details but it's not meant to be identical as I took some artistic liberties, as always. Making something look identical to anything is a one way trip to the looney bin as far as I'm concerned.
I created an artwork similar to this about a year ago but it used my old Rickard character and was just him and the drink on the table with a simple club background. Now I've used my new and improved Rickard 2, used vastly improved lights, added the plot diamond, and added some background characters so it looks more like a crowded club such as in the movie.
*Yes, in case you didn't know this, the club in the opening scenes is called "Obi Wan". A wink to the fans from George Lucas, I guess.
