Fantastic details and textures. Excellent shot. One of the padlocks seem to be somewhat unnecessary.

This set of locks ought to detour most perpetrators from breaking in. It appears only one is being used ; the other is merely a decoy. Great detail & textures in this photo, but it never fooled me. :}

Hey, Harry. I'd planned to be back yesterday, but we had cable outages---a common occurrence in this district. It's on and off now, but I hope to get at least 4 more comments in before it peters out. (I've tried commenting on my iPad---it has 4G---but typing comments on a mobile screen can be frustrating.) Anyway, to the art... I fell in love with this when you originally posted it. The comments recognize the fine textures, and your son points out the two padlocks, one possibly being a decoy: Fascinating, I never even thought of all that. I agree with all the above. I want to add that the composition is terrific. Ie, the wonderful lines and vectors here. You really have an eye for these types of visual movement and juxtaposition. I still can't figure out the gravity-defying look of it: I see a post of some kind that's holding the vertical chains erect; but the capture makes it look like the chains are just standing up on their own and then holding up the whole assembly. It's just such a fascinating visual double entendre to me, I can't keep my eyes off it. I don't know how you find these, and then know just where to shoot, I see padlocks all the time but I just don't "see" them...that is, I see them with the naked eye but not with the artist's eye. Of your continually rich padlock captures, this one is wonderfully baffling to me because of that upright chain, as the visual 'base' to the whole assembly. In fact, your whole crop has zeroed in on only a portion of the whole, which makes it so endlessly fascinating. What a crop. (I'm not getting out the words well, but it just pulls me in.) I just love the horizontal and vertical, and how it seems suspended there. And the textures, yes, first rate padlock stuff; and the two 'directions' of the padlocks; and all that glitter and grime on the center one. Lots of visual language in a small sight. And you've lined the horizontal chain flush with the end of the grass---solid basic alignment. Well, this is just a luscious piece of decay-art, and shows how even the lowly padlock can have a whole world going on in it. Archetypal padlock-ery, and a real visual joy.
