Description

The terrain through this elevated maze was similar to areas down below surprisingly. Grasses, cacti, and a lot of deep sand! Now normally I would crop off that bit of cloudy sky in this image, but I wanted to show how close I did come to getting on top of that massive amphitheater earlier in this series. That cleft in the wall would have been my route upward, but I could not bring myself to attempt it for all the fins. There was no way I could guarantee that ascending, or on my descent, that all would be intact. So I could not justify even trying. Not that it wasn't worth the trek upward, more beauty shots to come yet. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! Thank you all that viewed my last image below. thumb_2386639.jpg

I don't blame you Dana! Those look like they could shred you up pretty good. Nice closeup of the textures in the rock. Beautiful!!

out there out of cell phone range and a possible injury would be enough for me besides damaging the nature area

I thought this was pretty cool until I zoomed and then, whoa, mesmerizing! What a wonderful work of art. I particularly like the pattern at the lower right. Thanks for sharing this, Dana.

Kudo's to you for having the respect of nature so as to not take a chance and damage this amazing site. Those have to be ancient sand dunes so I am guessing you are somewhere in southern Utah.

Great shot! Once you break off the cooling fins, the sandstone formations do not run properly. Gotta be careful there!
