Description
Captured 11/19/12, looking into the sun, in front of the parking lot of a nearby bank.
Although most of these birds were on their last legs, I did find one that was relatively hale and hearty and in a good position to be snapped.
Most cool via ZOOM.
Toodles, and have a nice day.

Creative lighting - nicely done...

Great capture, the back lighting really makes the colors of this bird "PoP". Of course an aquatic background would have been ideal, nice capture with what you had to work with at that moment.

I saw this when it first went up, so I didn't see most of the comments. You got 17: Man, that's nice to see. It deserves a whole lot more. Shooting into the sun, I know, has all kinds of perils. But here, the sun not only gives a beautiful backlight to these flowers (it makes them glow), but it spills all over the background too, turning the pavement into a lake. (I think of sun on Lake Michigan---it looks just like this. Your son intimated that with his "aquatic" comment, because it really reminds us of water, back there.) You got fine dark shadows as counterpoint to the bright backlight. And you have lots of open space in the concrete. Really sensitive work, and good to see "beautifuls" in the comments. Photographers note: This is in a lowly parking lot! It's not in the Southwest Desert or a huge horticultural center. Everyone listening? People who say "there's no picture here," as they go out looking for photos, need to heed what you're doing here. An archetype shot in a parking lot---that's what 'finding the shot' is all about.
