I am sorry, but I cannot agree. This image is not beautiful, splendid, realistic or awesome. It just looks like a 5-minute-work and all these euphoric votes seem to be (like so many other votings here at Rero) "courtesy votings". Hard words, I know, but some one has to speak the truth.

To torteg: Thank you for your comment on my Terragen image. I am fine with any comment, harsh or otherwise. But I thank you to not degrade everybody elses comment. Your comment: "Hard words, I know, but some one has to speak the truth." YOUR truth! Other people see their comment as true. Please, keep that in mind. Kind regards Corrie/peedy.

1st of.....Sounds like someone got up on the wrong side of the gallery this morning(torteg)or has a problem with others that create with Terragen.....Gees dude get a grip and lighten up already....We are a family here and if you don't like how we comment then go somewhere else already...I don't believe you'd be missed much with comments as such...If your gonna dish it out you'd better be able to handle the backlash...My parents raised me to be proper and have respect for others and as the ole' say'n goes if you don't have nothing nice to say then button your (bleeping) lip!!! Corrie.....for the record you handled this like a pro...Me on the other hand would have "NOT" been so nice in a return response... Moving on as not to waste a rant here.... Love this Corrie as you know who your fans are here....(smiles)... And being it's Thanksgiving... Some Thanksgiving Humor for you to ponder today... A Wisconsin Winter Statistic 98% OF AMERICANS SAY "OH S***" BEFORE GOING IN THE DITCH ON A SLIPPERY ROAD. THE OTHER 2% ARE FROM WISCONSIN AND THEY SAY, "HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS." ~SMILES~

Critiques should have some thought behind them....not just harsh words. We can all improve but no one does with comments like that. Just keeping on creating, Corrie, you are getting better and better all the time. :-)))

Phew! Looks like the heaping mountain of snow across the street from our place. The layers of snow and textures look so real. Fantastic snow clouds and awesome winter atmosphere. Excellent work and presentation Corrie. Ditto to Will and his comment. He has said it all so well. Keep up the good work Corrie. Happy Thanksgiving to you too!!

Corrie I think this is a good snowy terragen image. I have tried that program and you are better than me. Great response to a bad comment.

Guys: I sidemailed my response to torteg and received a reply. I'll post it here with my comments back. "Hi! I tried to post this under your picture for the attention of all commentors, but double comments are not possible:" No. Pity. "OK, I give hard words and I get hard words, no problem for me! Let's have another try with some more constructive words. So, this is why I don't think Your image isn't really good: There is no "eyecatcher", the image doesn't tell a kind of a story. Every picture should have some points the eyes are attracted to. The terrain just looks like a small detail a of a much larger picture. It looks boring, sorry. To get more detailed and realistic terrains, you should give an external terrain editor a chance. Worldmachine in its startup-settings delivers much better terrains than this and it's free. In short: Terragen-made terrains are crap and - besides the clouds - the weakest feature in TG0.9." Ok, that makes sense. In my defence: I am a bit of a purist. And a terrain imported from Worldmachine, or any other terrain maker, just isn't Terragen, to me. Also, I am using the free version, which is very limited. "In addition of the terrain issues, the surface (esp. the rocks) would benefit from some more variety (aka. "Layers) and maybe different amounts of bumpiness." Hm, yes, I should have a look into that. "I am sure, the "family" won't like me more know, but I thought I had to show some kind of reaction. ;)" And I appreciate it a lot. :-) "I you find this comment more useful than my first one, feel free to make it public." Yes, I sure will do that. Thank you. :-) Corrie

yeah in my opinion the "torteg"comment was not appropriate,he should have sitemailed you as i see he did at a later stage. your image looks good to me,the terrain is fine, same as maybe my bryce works.i use bryce only for backgrounds i am not so good at it,and i hate reading tuts lol. and will is right ,we are a small family and lots of people are sick or have problems and here is the only place the can find a bit of joy,and therefore we should be nice to each other. you handled the situation very cool,i add you as fav as to come and visit you more often. nice to meet you. btw, torteg makes also good works i was in his gallery first time today.

I have worked with this version of Terragen, and this is a very good render. it has good lighting and good textures and the winter sky is realistic. well done!

Well, you did better than I did using the free version of Terragen! I think this looks quite nice and would make a great distant background for use in Poser or D|S. Besides, isn't art subjective? Yeah, just checking shakes head There's a certain finesse in delivering critique and I think you've just given torteg a lesson in decorum as well as humility. Way to go, Corrie =D very nice work!

Dear Corrie, I must agree with the vast majority of comments in your favor. Torteg was over the edge with his comment as delivered! He should have weighed his words much more carefully than shooting from the hip as he did! How does that old saying go, ready, shoot, aim! Well, that is what torteg did in this case. Posting his side comment is somewhat helpful but it is like closing the barn door after the horse and cows have escaped! But on a more personal note, I really love this image! Their is a very fine subtelty in the soft feel of the snow conveyed by the exquisite lighting! A most wonderful scene that would indeed make a fine background for any other art you might wish to place with it, but, it does stand on its own as well! Bravo on this super fine creation and many excellent kudos for your fine imagination and wonderful artistic skills!

I think you have made a great image with these mountains and they look very realistic too. I'm sorry I missed this yesterday and I am sorry that you got such bad comments from torteg, he has missed the whole point really of what this site is all about. Keep up your execellent images using terragen as I know how hard that program is to use. I think you use it very well.
