Description
These types of clusters of low lying cactus were common throughout Ghost Ranch, but I found it very challenging to capture them in a photo. I tried close up macros, long shots, squatting down to their level, etc. & really wasn't satisfied with anything I got. This was the best I could do. Lots of post-processing went into this, but not sure how much it helped. Although I have some other photos from Ghost Ranch that I may post at a later time, I think it's time to move on to the next part of my trip, which continues in Colorado...

Outstanding work with the exposure. Gets along well!

Know what you mean, tweak, tweak, and different tweak. The effect is good but when I opened it view was on 125% and cut off the very top of the rust colored arch and some of the foreground. It reduces the height of the image but I like the cactus family taking a higher percentage of the shot. It kind of got lost when the whole image was on screen. Hey, don't get to close those spines can really hurt the elbows. Looking forward to your Colorado images, mountains, ancient dwellings, waterfalls, and vistas everywhere, what's not to enjoy. Happy Travels.

Hard to focus on those with all that wispy grass all around; you did well! I'd hate to trip over those in the dark, that could hurt!
