Description
As we crossed the state line from New Mexico into Colorado, a sign greeted us: "Welcome to Colorful Colorado!". A few minutes later, as if to confirm that it wasn't false advertising, this scene appeared. We only spent a single day in Colorado, in the southwestern corner of the state & almost all of that day was spent in Mesa Verde National Park. My next few postings will feature some of the cliff dwellings of the ancestral Pueblo tribes who lived there...

I have dug a lot of smoky quartz and topaz crystals and petrified dinosaur bone out of Colorado. I have a great fondness for that state. You should check out some more of it. I love this photo!

The sky gods must have been with you that day to get the clouds to line up for this hello to Colorado. I too have dug for fossels, turquise, quartz, agates and some petrofied tree samples when growing up. Great shot. Enjoy Colorado,
