Description

By Penhaligons. This prestigious company has a shop in London which I should probably be a bit to intimidated to enter! Very expensive and classy, and one of the very few places beside Harros that sells uber-pricey niche scents. However I did by the set of ladies miniatures for my collection, which you can see Here

Great shot, Andrea!! But as I told once I'm alergic to this stuff. The worst thing for me, travelling by plane, is the way through the minefield of perfume stories... :o[

Do PERFUMES bring back memories of events? They surely do! - every time I see and smell this dainty little flower, I am reminded of my dead Mother, which is fine with me ... and I am so glad I am reminded of this gorgeous and unforgetable scent, but I still miss her even to this day, as I grew up without her love or affection and often wondered what it would have been like ... I was only a tiny toddler, when an Aunty lifted me up to the coffin and I had to place a bouquet of 'Lily of the Valley' into her folded hands - the scent was unforgetable! What has this to do with the real perfume bottles here? (or Eau de Toilette) I am asking myself that also - seriously though, would it be close to the flower? Thank you Andrea for sharing this, it may be sad but it is also very enticing. BB

Extraordinary! Probably not the proper word in this case, but I thought I would try a different adjective tonight. Actually, I never used this stuff. Otherwise, fabulous clarity and color, A.

Beautiful presentation! It must be hard to get the perfume out of the flower? It grows like weeds and spreads everywhere, so why is it expensive?

WOW!! Four different "flavors". I like the photo, the bottle and the green cord really sets things off very nicely!

God I barely have made it to your most recent work. Well, this is pretty recent. I can't do an Andrea session without doing at least one perfume shot. They are a whole world among your photographs. As I've said (probably a million more times than you wanted to hear, lol), they have a highly display-oriented sense about them, and I just love them. The box a little bit in the back, the main bottle a little further forward, and the small bottle upfront: A classic arrangement. Subtle shading and lighting; and the green on the box is a beautiful counterpoint to the orange-ish golden tones of the bottles and background. And a rich mass of background, at that, with smooth morphed hues. I've done many shots in my apartment of objects under various lightings, but I've yet to do anything satisfactory---unless i postworked them into abstracts. But this type of shooting is just beyond me. I've loved everyone of your perfume shots both here and at flickr, and you just never fail with them. They're a world all to themselves. You seem to have a second sense for the contrasts too---such as the green string over the glass and the golden light on the caps. You know this territory so intuitively. Another lovely entry in this long enduring series. Love it.
