Description

Ana will recognize the photo (and the treatment). It's Lake Michigan, the day Hurricane Sandy hit the lake. We had no damage, as we were lucky: But the waters were dramatic and beautiful. I turned it into this, for Ana, who is one of the dearest friends of my entire life. I wish you all the light in the universe, dear Ana, and all the peace as well. And light and blessings to your family too. Like the light behind that tree, you are that light to those who know and love you, and you have done so much to bring that light to them every day. Happy birthday, and many many more, with all the light the universe has to offer,
all my love, Mark * * * Image better full-size. I'll return to commenting and to my dedis, soon. I haven't forgotten any of you, I promise.

Stunning work, Mark. I always tell my pupils that one's work should make folk want to cross the room to examine it. Yours will dash across the space to the viewer!

What a wondrous birthday dedication you created for your friend, brilliant work as always Mark. You've taken what is truly a dramatic scene from the wake of hurricane Sandy and transformed it into this caring and thoughtful dedi. In doing so this became a perfect reflection of the kind artist behind it. That is why this image and what it stands for is reminiscent of you Mark, and the manner In which you transform the painful situations you encounter into positive learning experiences.

OH WOW, Mark! Sweet Ana will adore this image. It is an image one can linger at for a long time, just to enjoy the colors, the light and the composition. I just love this masterpiece, dear Mark and I have no doubt, that Ana will too :) You changed a hurricane into a peaceful piece of art. Wonderful. :-)

A most interesting treatment of the tumultuous lake during the storm. I like the glowing orb in the tree, as it feels like a spiritual presence watching over. A very lovely dedi to Ana. CC

A beautiful artwork with lots of light and colour and a lovely birthday gift for your friend. I am also glad to hear that you didn't get any damage from Sandy who swept in with such force.

Is that the same Ana as the one in Ana and the King of Siam? Otherwise, what a fabulous abstract you have created for your friend on her birthday, Mark. Stunning colors, lighting, textures and effects beyond my limited vocabulary to describe.

Helloooooooooo,Mark:)))))))))))))))))))))Thank you!!Thank you so much for all your wishes on me!!!!and for this stunning image !!!! Yes, i recognize, Mark:)))And You are so right...the waves were scaring, but so beautiful too, in its unstoppable STRENGHT and the trees so powerful in front of them, ready for ALL, with SO strong fingers open, like if they could to stop all this! You did a stunning image, Mark!! You played with the "fantastic" and you turned the danger and the darkness into tranquility and LIGHT... it is incredible:))because to me, it is like if you were ABOVE of this HURRICANE and You can handle him and control him...as well the strong forces of nature, and the waves become soft and the darkness that were coming in the air with the big waves and with the threatening atmosphere, became light...and 'your'lake became tranquil and joyful but powerful, like before:)))) Your art come from your heart, i have no doubt:) I feel a GREAT honour, because you offered me this image, Mark:))I know how much'your'lake means for you, in all meanings....and i don't have words for your words for me and i am very proud, if you think that i deserve this all... You are a GREAT PERSON to me and in my heart and i feel very honoured because you are my friend:))))))))))))THANK YOU:)))))))))))

This has such power, and yet such peace. Depth and immediacy both, and a feeling of strength and love. A beautiful piece for Ana's birthday, with a lovely dedication.

I just came from Ana's beautiful gallery. Luminous and beautiful image and dedication for her! I filled the screen with it, and stayed a while. I love the combination of darkness, light, and brilliant colors (with strong tones of blue, which you know I like). When I looked at it, and the treatment you did of the water, I thought of Mt. Fuji in the snow. The shape is different but the color, tone, and elegance remind me of Japanese wood prints like those by Tsuchiya Koitsu. I love the darkness and light, the lines of the trees, the beautiful tracery of branches in the top left corner, and the bright light shining through the trees and diffusing out into the darkness. This is beautiful and a wonderful image of light for Ana. I agree totally with your dedication for her. Her light and the light of her work, has brightened my life.
