Description
Going through my 2012 year in review file. Came across this from the Festival of The Chariots that is held in Golden Gate Park.
The “Festival of the Chariots,” known throughout India as the “Ratha Yatra” festival, has been performed for thousands of years in Puri, India and today it is celebrated in all major cities through out the world. More then 3,000 people attend each year in San Francisco alone.
An interactive parade, in which people will pull three large Chariots by ropes, begins on John F. Kennedy Drive and Transverse Drive in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park at 11 a.m. or so. The parade will continue down JFK Dr. and end at 1pm in Sharon Meadow for the free lunch that is served to all the patrons.
