Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

You know, you do these shot that just jump up and grab me for some reason...different reasons for each shot. Sometimes its a mood, sometimes its a direct subject, or a combination of colors. Sometimes it's an undefinable thing that "sits" just right in my mind, and you did it again here! That isn't surprising, really, when you stop and think about it. THIS image did what so many of your others do. It "sits" just right. I think it's also perfect in that I've just purchased yet another book, but I haven't read it yet. It's called Searoad and it's by Ursula K. LeGuin. It's mainstream fiction, not science fiction or fantasy, and the cover of the book has an image on it similar to this one. THIS image makes me think of that book and it makes me wonder about the lives of the people who live here, and THAT means that there are at least a dozen stories in this image! Needless to say, I love it. And from one photographer to another, I'll just say: "Nice shootin'."

Wonderful composition. Excellent balance between light and dark. And I love the foggy distance.

A beautiful beach scene Marilyn. My kind of shot for sure. I love the atmosphere you have captured.

I see you posted about the same time as Andrew again! Good to see two beach shots in a row that are so different, yet both so interesting!

Misty and lovely, I love the beach on days like this. Great walking weather!

Terrific capture of the beach scene is this stellar pano shot, Maz, using a 16:9 aspect ratio lens setting in your new Fuji camera, perhaps? Stellar clarity and texture in the foreground, contrasted against the misty background.

I love the high key light/sky against the darker cliffs. LOVE the composition and the letterbox crop! Gorgeous work.
