Description

Here are another 6 sculptures from the Festival @ Currumbin Beach - such a big variety, methinks! *** # 1 GHOST NETS ... (bamboo, fishing nets & steel rigs) the work came from a simple desire to turn a marine hazard into something extraordinary and beautiful. # 2 RUPTURED HELIX ... (camphor laurel timber) The sculpture is a broad expression of the DNA scientific code, greatly enlarged and accentuated into an artistic form and developed as an exiting and provoking study in carving. # 3 PIPELINE ... (aluminium, steel and powder-coated paint) It presents the breaking of a wave. When I ride my bike down to check the surf in the morning, this is what I love to see, an awesome barrel rolling in. # 4 AQUADUCK ... (recycled steel & tyres) At the helm and standing proud of his rubber ducky, this solo voyager stays alert for adventure and discovery. # 5 TSUNAMI-3 ... (hot dip galvanised mild steel & oxidised corten steel) Tsunami 3 is part of a series, which explores the force and flow of ocean, waves, currents, tsunamis and storms on the seashore, reefs and coral. It is significantly influenced my mythical and archaeological imagery such as the Chimera and ancient megalithic structures. # 6 HIDDEN MEMORIES ... (galvanised metal) (artist left no description?) *** I'll have a bet that 'durleybeachbum' (Andrea) will pick #2 as a FAV! ;) and I would also like to dedicate these sculptures to a relative new artist here @ Rendo: 'LuxXeon' (John) - do yourself a favour and check out his gallery - most interesting! *** Cheers Brigitte

OMG. #2 and #6 have me drooling. Those are the types of shapes I find absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly artistic. Congratulations on some high quality photography, and thank you once again for bringing math art to a curriculum that really hasn't been exposed to such things very often. Brilliant, just brilliant.

Wonderful collection. #2 reminds me of a bunch of grapes. #4 is just odd enough to appeal to me. Fun stuff. Nicely captured.

They all look pretty kool, but the heavy metal Daffy Duck does it for me ! Great collection and even with the extreme jpeg compression, you still got a fine result ! Well done & ~Cheers~

I was thinking Andrea would pick number 2, then I read your last part, so we were in agreement, but apparently Andrea just does not realize which one she should like...yet, LOL! I find #6 interesting.

Thank you, dear Brigitte, to do an upload again of those beautiful sculptures, and there also mention the description of them. It must have been a lot of work to do for you. I therefore admire in the first place your performance of making these stunning collage, with this special images. For me number 2 is fascinating me very much, but I must say to make a choice is not easy, because I admire all of this. I have gone to the gallery of John, a very good indication you did mention here, dear friend. Thank you for all you gave us here, also this year again, my dear friend ♥ !
