Description

This garden is the work of retired GP Dr James Fisher and his wife Rosemary. Their son Adrian is an internationally renowned maze designer. Photographed looking Southwestish from the little bridge over the mill cut paddles. It may look idyllic but there can be no privacy, which I personally value above all in a garden. The Latin inscription on the oboelisk roughly translates as 'Erected by a self-opinionated old man' if I remember correctly. James is nothing if not eccentric.

Apart from the lack or privacy a very beautiful and idyllic looking place to live.

Beautiful house and garden. In any case, he seems to be not a poor man. Superb shot!

House and garden look very idyllic to me, Andrea. Your photo has a great mood, and I too like the reflections. A perfect capture, my 'girl':D

It all depends of how close people can go to the house. What more can you see, than if too people are sitting outside, that is all you see. You need a binocular to see what they eat or drink. Well I doubt people are THAT interested in them? Or? But this is a really beautiful shot, Andrea. It may be good for a .... painting?

I'm torn between calling the cottage either quaint or haunted in this very British foto, Andrea. Really like the progression of foreground water to the seemingly dormantlike flora, all the way back to the leave-me-alone homestead.

What a gorgeous place! I'd live in a place like that, but I'd need a private garden as woodlice don't do too well in non-private circumstances. I love that thatched roof and the inscription on the obelisk is priceless! This is a brilliant shot! I'd love to visit this place.

A lovely capture of this beautiful thatched cottage but I'm like you and go for privacy in the garden.

a lovely stone high stone wall all the way around would be perfect, wouldn't it? But then we wouldn't have the marvelous view of it, unless you climbed the wall, grins.

When I think of England this is the image that comes to mind down to the eccentric owner. Absolutely superb image.

I bet maze designing is a job that you could easily get 'stuck in'. Once you start a project it would be 'very difficult to get yourself out of it'!! Unless of course you 'cut a lot of corners'............

It really is lovely, but I'm with you ... privacy is so important! Still, from this side it's a beautiful setting and I'm glad to see it!
