Description
The last combat flight of the last three torpedo bombers in the Pacific Fleet on June 6, 1942 returned them all home with their payloads intact. The three TBD-1 Devastators from the USS Enterprise were sent out to assist the destruction of the retreating IJN heavy cruisers Mokami and Mikuma with the caveat that if they encountered any resistance they were to bring the pickles and planes back in the same shape they left in. They did, turning some laps around the action, while the cruisers were pounded out of action by the SBD Dauntless dive bombers on the site.

Maybe it was a good job the Dauntless's did the job rather than these guys having to go in.. Otherwise they may not have been coming back.. Not the greatest aircraft ever.. So outclassed by 1942.. This is a great looking Render though, top work!!! Rob

Superb render. I love the clouds. I can vouch for that WW@USAAF pilot pack. It is just what the doctor ordered.

Great picture. They were outdated in 1942 but I don't know why I like these old aircrafts. Thank you for mention.
