Description

Would you believe I cooked this turkey in a trash can? Just stumbled across this method on the internet. It is nothing new and has been around for a while. I had to try it. It came out moist, was easy and I didn’t need to stay indoors to keep an eye on the oven. A fun project with the grandkids.... See "Trashcan Turkey" . Aloha and thank you for viewing ps We made it thru 12-21-12 :)

I hope it was a trash can that had never had trash in it.... take cat crap from an example - hepatitis. Turkey looks great, but if I ate it and then you told me you cooked it in a trash can I'd feel like you're trying to kill me - lol.... can you imagine what that Turkey looks like today? yeah, worse than trash - lol

I have heard about it and thought about it but I always forget near the holidays. Looks really great and sounds like it gave you all the time to keep that family atmosphere going when it means the most. Happy Holidays my dear friend.

If I tried it the rest of the trash in the trash can would catch fire too......plus the turkey would keep trying to get out!!!!!

Say, cutting-edge technology employed in preparation of this yummy looking bird, Errol! Saved you having to work indoors using up all that gas or electricity with the oven. Great shot. Way to go!

I've heard of this, but haven't tried it (actually I've NEVER cooked a turkey, and if I'm lucky I'll live my life out that way. MUCH easier to have someone else do it, LOL!) It looks absolutely yummy!

Gee, I tried it and it turned out really messy and strange tasting...guess I shouldn't have used a plastic trsh can, eh? LOL! Looks good! Actually, roasting a turkey in the oven looks way easier than this to me. I've cooked so many I just find it about the easiest thing to make if you're not stuffing it with dressing. Dressing is what takes the time and energy. (On a side note Errol, I finally got a pineapple to try your slicing method and it works very well. The fruit was very acidic though which happens to pineapples that are picked too early so they can be shipped to Canada. The fruit tasted good but I had to drink a glass of water right afterwards. I got spoiled by having fresh pineapple in Hawaii...nothing like it!)

This looks delicious. It is probably easy to do in Hawaii. I wouldn't want to try it where it is rainy or really freezing. Merry Christmas

@junge1...It rained when we were cooking this turkey and at times hard. We set up a sports umbrella over the trash can. Not sure how the turkey would do in the snow but I know I would be freezing. :) Aloha

looks so delicious.now I am more hungry! I have heard of taking the old style all metal refrigerator and putting a hole in top and attaching a vent pipe. then using it as a smoker. I had some beef that was cooked in one back in the mid 70's and it was so tender
