Description
Well, being the sort of person I am, it's never enough to make the neighbors wonder what sort of crazy person lives there just by making improbable rock-stacks, nor having them see me leaving the house in my elaborate costumes for the renaissance festival, nor me building strange snow-sculptures in the yard.
I go one better and photograph these things at night, wandering around my yard in the dark, with a camera, and frequently not using the flash. That must not look suspicious at all!
So far, at least, nobody's called the police on me, so I still get to ply my hobbies and crawl around them at night taking pictures. But when the end result is like this, it seems worth it to me.
There are a couple of small LED lights on the ground inside the central arch, the rest of the light comes from a street lamp behind everything. It was close enough to sunset that there was still a small glow of color in the sky, which I didn't really notice until after taking pictures of it with no flash!
Laying down in the snow to get this shot was worth the wet and cold parts of my body, especially since there was hot spiced cider waiting for me inside!

Totally worth the trouble! :) I love the light setup you used. It gives this a magical feeling, like Something is About to Happen! I'm quite sure there are all sorts of interesting things going on in there. Nicely done!

This absolutely rocks, Mike! I love the lighting in this - not crazy at all, my friend! Although I'm sure the neighbors scratch their heads now and then.... On the other hand, perhaps there used to it by now! LOL!
