Description
Volume I - Episode 134
Where: Cologne, Germany
When: 1 month and 5 days after E-Day, 12:57 am
Klaudia stared at the American couple. They weren't Hexenjägern, that much she was sure of. Or if they were, they were out of uniform. Hexenjägern dressed in navy blue fatigues and steel plating.
And they weren't in the habit of saving witches from being shot.
And they didn't carry wands.
A spellslinger!
"What's your name?" the voice inside her head asked.
"Klaudia Weber," she whispered.
"My name is Cathy Frazer, and this is my husband Rob. We're from the Academie des Sciences Magiques in Paris. We're looking for a woman named Krystal Beaufort."
Krystal! Oh my God! Klaudia found the strength to climb to her feet. So these were the people who'd been looking for Krystal for the past few days. Paul Barkley, Angela Marotte, Eric Schumacher and Philipp Schroeder - the people Jack had killed one after the other as they appeared at the apartment's front door asking for Krystal. Had they come all the way from Paris just to find her? But why?
Klaudia had no time to contemplate the reasons. The apartment was burning furiously around them; at some point it was likely to collapse. And there had been no sign of Krystal since the mininova. Whoever these people were, and whatever their reasons for wanting to find Krystal, she was going to have to trust them.
Klaudia swallowed nervously. "She's in the bedroom."
"Show us, please," Cathy said. "We have to be quick." And then she said something alarming: "There's a war coming."
There was another loud thud as Jack collapsed to the floor.
Quite dead.

"There's a war coming" - sounds somehow ironic within this mess, just like Rowan Atkinson as the Devil in his famous stage appearance: "As the more perceptive of you have probably realised by now - this is hell ..."
