Description

Its such a long time since I posted anything. A real chance affair this capture. After reading that Waxwings are everywhere in the UK this winter. I finally got some appear in a tree 200 yds from home! They may appear in Scotland every year but further south is quite rare. Sometimes not showing for 10-20 year periods. Always a joy to see with that sweeping crest and black face mask. Then the wonderful yellow/red markings on the wings. To top it all they will let you get quite close without fleeing. About the size of a plump Starling if you are on the lookout. They eat berries by the bucket load and love Rowan berries most, but cotoneaster trees draw them in too.
