Description

The first time Sancha saw Altayr perform was at the Paris Opera House. He played Prince Ivan in the Firebird. Altayr was schooled in several types of dance, but was primarily a danseur (male ballet dancer). It was a fluke he was performing that evening, as the Danseur Nobel (head male danseur) had come down with a terrible cough. Altayr had been a solo danseur in several other productions and the lead study and so it fell to him to take over that night...and the next. At the time, he was involved with the prima ballerina of the group. She WAS a diva, and after his experiences with her, Sancha's little occassional outbursts were like nothing to him. Sancha and her troupe got to go back stage and meet the company. Even though everyone was crowded around the young man, congratulating him on his performance, he took time to talk to her. Her dance-master gave him his card and told him to look them up if he ever wanted a change of pace. It was about six months later that Altayr had enough of the drama and jealousies in the ballet troupe. Not to mention he discovered that his girlfriend had found herself a rich sugar-daddy and been cheating on him for a few months. That was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. He happened to find the business card of Sancha's dance-master as he was packing up his things. It seemed like a sign at the time, so he took off to southern Spain with what little he had. So, that's their story...at least the prequel to it. ***** The Firebird Suite was Igor Stravinsky's first commissioned work. It was written for the 1910 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes company. It was pretty much a big hit and moved Stravinsky into the spotlight. It was also one of my mother's favorite pieces of music. I always liked 'Rite of Spring' myself. Thanks for stopping by dear friends! Your comments and faves are always much appreciated :) ***** Background by me - a fire image composited with several Apo fractals, and some hand painting (foreground). Sword (Tulwar) is from Merlin's "Ancient Weapons" (DAZ) Lighting is Savage_Dragon's Skinz #8.

I like the pure exhuberance of this image! He is totally in the moment as you pose him and he is thus perfectly melded with the fire elements. Those elements are outstanding! The flames look so real, I especially like the orange upper ones. The lower red ones look more symbolic but they fit the scene well. Altyar looks really powerful, the way male dancers do.

A fantastic and fiery image for sure. The dynamism in the pose and the other elements in the image make it burst. Beautiful work and nice backstory. I and my brother are Stravinsky fans too. I heard the full Rite of Spring in college and was surprised how out of order the Disney version was. My brother really likes Petrouchka and the Firebird Suite is definitely classic. My bro found an early recording of The Rite of Spring conducted by Stravinsky. It must have been recorded on acetate or something, but was transferred to the digital domain. Considering it's age and medium it sounds pretty good. It's from the 20s I believe.
