Description

Volume I - Episode 137 Where: Melbourne, Australia When: 1 month after E-Day, 8:07 am It had been an unusual, mostly-sleepless night. I kept thinking of the black four-wheel-drive that had sped past me to slam into the police car on Dover Road. I had so many questions. Why had the 4WD skipped past me to target the police car? Was it a premeditated attack? Was the 4WD even, perhaps, working to protect me? How had it known the police car would appear from the side street at that exact moment? If the police car hadn't shown up, would it have attacked me instead? Or would it have just ignored me and blown on by? And every time the questions subsided, and my eyelids began to droop, I saw visions of those four pale, rotting corpses, impaled on a public street in broad daylight. The world had turned to Hell. And Jessica Bell was out there in it. While waiting (unsuccessfully) for sleep to find me, I spent the night formulating my plan for the next day. My original plan had been to visit Balsdon Mall in the morning and Bendelle Shopping Centre in the afternoon. But really, Balsdon was little more than a glorified suburban shopping strip. I couldn't imagine Jessica finding shelter in the local Balsdon newsagent or laundromat. The surer bet was the much larger, much better stocked, and conveniently much closer, Bendelle Shopping Centre. If Jessica was, indeed, holed up in a shopping centre the way I suspected, then she had more than likely chosen Bendelle. So, at a little after 8 the following morning, exactly one month after humanity had all but disappeared off the face of the Earth, I finished my breakfast and packed my gear for a trip to Bendelle Shopping Centre. Are you at Bendelle, Jess? In about twenty minutes time, I'd know for sure.

Nice character! Guess where he gets his toast one month after every bakery's closure?
