Volume I - Episode 138 Where: Melbourne, Australia When: 1 month after E-Day, 8:12 am Kim stumbled into the car park. Her head was throbbing. The damage to her eye socket had left her blinded. She squinted into the sunlight with her one good eye. It was the first time she'd been outside in two weeks. The sun and fresh air felt good against her skin. She tilted her head back, enjoying the breeze that wafted across the desolate car park. Only it wasn't desolate at all. Twenty metres ahead of her was a black four-wheel-drive, and a large 18-wheeler parked next to it. Chained to the back of the truck were six men. Nikki's "Wolves". Above them, she saw the sign that had granted her release.

RELEASE KIM NOW - IF YOU WANT THEM BACK ALIVE

Like Nikki, Kim had no idea how Hayley's gang had known her name, or why they sought her freedom. Had Hayley told them about her? With all the suffering she had endured at the hands of the Wolves, had she even been aware of Kim's presence? Maybe she had urged her gang to come back, to save Kim from the same fate that she had befallen? Or maybe they just wanted blood. Two figures stood near the 18-wheeler, silhouetted against the morning sunlight. Kim squinted, struggling to make out some details. But it was so hard to focus. Oh, so hard. And her head was throbbing. About the only thing she could tell for certain was that both the figures were male, and both of them were carrying rifles. Then she spotted a third figure, sitting in the cab of the 18-wheeler. The third figure was shorter than the other two, and much more slender. A female. And whoever she was, she was watching Kim with terrifying intensity. Kim walked slowly towards the figures, deciding it's what they expected her to do. She half-expected the men to raise their rifles and start shooting at her at any moment. And what could she do to prevent it? She still held the axe she'd used to kill Rodney...but what good was an axe against rifles when the men carrying them were so far away? Another gust of wind blew across the car park, bringing with it the strong, pungent stink of gasoline. It came from the 18-wheeler. Kim studied the truck... The prisoners chained to the trailer were covered with fuel. Fire. They're going to set them on fire! Images of Jessica's face flashed before her eyes. Jessica covered in blood in the back of her BMW. Jessica burning to death. Kim stopped walking. Suddenly, this all felt too much like a trap. She turned and looked back at the shopping centre, so tall and safe behind her, a fortress surrounded by concrete. Out here she was all alone. And completely exposed. The female sitting in the truck seemed to sense Kim's hesitation. She hopped out of the cab and landed clumsily on the asphalt. The two males lowered their weapons and put their arms out to steady her. She ignored their offers of help and took a short, unsteady step towards Kim. One of the males put his hand on her shoulder, but she shook him off and took another awkward, loping stride. A few more paces, and then she seemed to find her confidence. She broke into a run. No, not just a run, a sprint. An ungainly, somehow painful-looking sprint. The sound of the footfalls echoing across the empty car park filled Kim with dread. And as the figure drew closer, Kim saw a flash of long, blonde hair. It was Hayley.
