Description

Early in 2012 Helle and I were talking about a painting technique she was trying out (with outstanding results, I might add), and she inspired me to try something similar. Of course by the time I was done it was nothing like the tutorial! LOL! My level of experience isn't quite up to that sort of thing. Anyway ... Helle's version is HERE, and it's gorgeous! (I hesitate to provide a link because I'd rather not give you such a stark comparison, but not sharing it wouldn't be right! I hope you'll go easy on me.) :P I painted this in ArtRage with Helle's image as a reference. I don't quite have a handle on the watercolor settings in that program, and ended up using the glitter tool, of all things! ArtRage and CS5

Massively wonderful! Lilacs are among the only flowers I can identify, and that's mostly through their scent. I can almost pick up their scent here! The colors are superb and it's so completely alive! It's a gorgeously perennial lilac. The best kind!

Magic! I like them both equally! Glitter tool, eh? How about that! I haven't got to grips with Artrage at all yet, but I will one day.

This is an exceptionally fine first effort. I particularly like your interpretation of the lilacs. I couldn't quite put my finger on the difference between your image and Helle's. Then it hit me. Her's looks like a watercolor while yours looks more like an oil painting.

OH WOW! Tara. This is magical. I really love the result of this ArtRage Still life. Now I finally see what the glitter tool is good for. It is an absolute delight. And to be honest I like YOUR composition more than mine :)I must learn not to put my vases in the center :) Anyway, thank you for adding a link to my humble painting. This one is much more alive :-) LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Thank you so much. And I do hope this is not the last painting you do. YOU ARE GOOD, Lady !!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)))

Makes me think of something Andrea might have displayed on her hall table. This is simply bursting with life. Nice job...Helle appears to think it better than the original...very complimentary.

You're not giving yourself enough credit, Tara! This is really beautiful! I think both yours and hers are gorgeous and they both reflect both of your talents! Hope to see you and Bill this spring - looking forward to it! :-)

You know Tara, I am totally delighted with the way you've painted the flowers. What an airy and fabulous look you've created on them. I adore them. And to be quite honest, I prefer (as regards the flowers) to your painting. I do not know if Helle also used ArtRage. I know Helle is a good artist with real paint. So I certainly will not hurt our dear friend Helle with my comment here. Finally: "Hooray for you both." :D

the lilac is defenitly clear recognisable, the texture of the blossoms looks convincingly - it's very well done
