Description
This is the collection of Franco's spindles during a weaving demonstration at the Archaeopark. Franco builds archaic looms and knows weaving techniques from around the world. From the Neolithic to the Bronze Age and later they used mostly two fibers, flax and animal wool from sheep and goats. They also used a number of plants, from nettles to the xylem of trees, an inner part of the bark. BTW, nettles give a translucent silky fibre for garnments. And it doesn't 'burn'..... Here he used wool, flax and hemp for the spinning lesson.
