Description

I got this bright idea to revive some of my failed 3d images through extensive postwork. I actually made a few very different versions of this. I hope nobody minds me posting another one later.

Super image and some really cool postwork. The amorphic cloud seems to even have a horses head on the right side of the image. As Seth said, post away!

What a great idea. And you clearly show that nothing need be a failure with the application of a bit more work, knowledge, skills and most of all... love.

i love the lighting in this, love the colors you've used, love that cloud or smoke thing in the bg that definitely feels like an echo of the horse she's riding, love what you did with the girl. it all gives this a superb dream-like feel.

I'm no great photographer, but I can tell you that some of my best images were rescued from inside larger images that were just awful! I totally understand the instinct to go back to old images and rework them. (The composer Bach did it all the time. His famous "B Minor Mass" was a pastiche of pieces going back some 25 years...talk about reviving!) And Sandy, this is a gem! I can't believe I didn't comment on this---I thought I'd caught up. But bravo on this. Whatever 'failure' this sprung from, the wonderful cartoon-like girl and those wonderful big eyes on the horse are a terrific base for all you did with them: Their gallop out of the mists, the light on them, their intense shadows, the red-orange-gold (etc) cloud (with some heavy greens too), the wonderful metallic hues on the horse, and the deep blacks on the girl---highlighted by terrific eyes, a hint of frontal hair (like a feather) and those beautiful back locks: Voila! It's a real gem. If this is what you do when you resurrect old failures, I hope you have 2 billion failures!!! They'll be fodder for a whole slew of gemstones. Beautiful and magical piece all around!

this I like a bit more because of the play of colors with the light! ;o)
