When we went back to the doctor’s office to remove the stiches from my head, remember the bird bath. Mom got out of the car and as I was getting out of the back of the car, she slammed the door on my ring finger of my right hand. The end of my finger about half way from the last joint to the fingertip was hanging by some skin, blood vessels and nerves. Of course the bone was broken. Since I was there to get the stiches out of my head, the doctor numbed the finger and sewed it back on. Of course that was not the end of the story, about twenty miles from the doctor’s office my sister pulled the splint off of my finger and we had to go back to the doctors.
