Description
A sign on the trailhead to this arch explains that although most arches form very slowly over time, a dramatic change occurred to this particular arch in 1940. A large boulder suddenly fell out of the left side of the arch, approximately doubling the size of the opening. The arch now has a span of 71 feet & a height of 33 feet. I will post a photo tomorrow from directly below the arch that I think may include a piece of that boulder in the foreground...

I'm looking forward to tomorrow! In the meantime, I wanted to see if I could find a picture from pre-1940 for comparison. Amazing, what you can find on the internet. That was a freakin' big boulder!
