Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Gorgeous! I really like the texture of the sand in conjunction with the rock and the bit of wood! Beaches always have such cool, sometimes cryptic things on them, and this shot makes me wish that Chicago's beaches weren't frozen solid! The ice hasn't gotten interesting yet, but the sand feels like concrete with...um...well...with sand on top. I love the light in this.

I couldn't agree more. That's why I love to go fishing. It's not to do with how many fish I catch (I put most things back!). It's to be able to just sit there and absorb nature. Great shot. Is it concrete or coral? I can't tell.

You are so right. The simple things do take on a special beauty at the beach. Now I have spring fever, but alas it is also cold a frozen here in Holland right now. However like Chipka says ice and snow can also be very interesting. I guess I will take my camera for a walk to see what I can find. :)

Oh yes! I have a collection of sea washed man-mades. Brick is especially good, but I like this bit of concrete!

Such a nice collection of textures, and the light is just right. I love the sharp shadows. You make me want to be at the beach! (On a warmer day than this one!) :P
