Description
My photographic strategy om this hike, as it is on most group hikes, is to either be in the very front or at the very rear of the group. That way I can both take photos of the landscape without anyone in it (shooting ahead from in front & behind when at the rear) or take photos of the group itself in the landscape. It also gives me more time to take photos - while either waiting for the group to catch up or by lingering longer while they advance. In this photo, I had walked ahead with the ranger leading the group & the group was a considerable distance behind us. The vast scale of the landscape for much of this particular hike enabled me to do this very easily without losing sight of the group...

Amazing scope to this eroded land. People really lend themselves to creating a sense of scale. Like your tactics walking on ahead.

Excellent strategy! Your results are outstanding. I love the faults and cracks and striations. Wow. What a landscape!

The downside of that of course is for the others because you are in all the photos they shoot ahead of the group, LOL!

A spectacular capture of this rugged landscape. I like your photographic strategy as I don't like people in my photos if at all possible!
