Description

This was a shot I took while lingering behind & letting the group get ahead of me a bit. Several of you commented on how the inclusion of people in the previous few photos I posted helped to gauge the scale of the landscape. I think that's really evident in this photo, as the people here really look to me like they're tiny little travelers in a land scaled for giants. Just one more photo to post from this Fiery Furnace series & then there's just one more very unique & much less well know location from my trip I'd like to share before moving on to other subjects...

Wonderful. Having those people in the shot really shows off the scale.

fot me this kind of landscape is so un-real, as I am living in an almost flat country (netherlands), but it is fascinating, and reminds me of the bookd of Karl May ( winnetou)

Another beautiful photo! If that was a popular trail used in historical times there would be boulders with "trigger rocks" underneath them on the hills overlooking the trail. Sometimes you can still run across them in the Superstition Mountains outside Apache Junction, Arizona. I will bet people come across them in other locals as well and just figure they are "natural phenomena".

The scale is jaw dropping! I opened the image and started to scroll down, thinking I knew how big the people would be. Wow. I underestimated by a factor of about four. Excellent shot!

I love the POV to show off the vast scale of this area and this is one place where the other hikers are a plus for perspective!
