Description

The early Bronze Age metal worker developed his skill in casting tools and weapons using both clay and stone moulds to manufacture copper and bronze artefacts. Here you can see Franco running a workshop with a demo at a primitive Bronze Age foundry, dedicated to reproducing tools, weapons and artefacts from the Bronze Age at the Livelet archaeopark. In the next posts I'll show you details of the process. Those interested in reading more about it can go here: http://mygeologypage.ucdavis.edu/cowen/~GEL115/115CH4.html http://www.angelfire.com/me/ik/picsbt.html http://www.templeresearch.eclipse.co.uk/bronze/intro.htm Thanks for your kind comments.

Sandra, you have no idea how delighted I am to see you continuing this series. Franco Is a true master of this lost art form, and I am eager to learn more about him and his art. I know a little bit about injection molding and casting, so seeing these molds is truly exciting for me. I hope the people in attendance realize just how lucky they are to be able to see this demonstration firsthand. I can't wait to check out the links you provided

This is fascinating but I wonder how they thought to melt metal to make tools. Who was the first one to think of that? I'm thinking Franco should be wearing animal skins for the full effect.
