This is a real antique alright. My mom used to can on occasion but she used the jars with the metal washer and screw on tops.

Have a basement shelf stocked full of these canning jars as I do my own canning every fall with various pickling/mustard/sauces and alike...Seems the older jars are far better than the ones they make today.I have all my grandmothers and mothers jars and are used quite frequently....Makes for great pasta storage too!
