Description
An old picture of my grandfather, Pop he did not like to be called grandfather, when he was in WW-I. His father died when he was in the 6th grade. So he quit school to work as a painter to support the family. He also insisted that his younger brothers and sisters finish school. He taught the boys the painting trade and set them up with the equipment they needed to be painters. They were paint contractors all their lives and one son took over his dads painting business. He lied about his age to get in the service and sent all his money home. The saying I remember most from him was "The only thing illegal is getting caught!" When I graduated from high school, I spent the summer working as an apprentice painter with him. I enjoyed the time with him! After the summer was over, he wanted me to stay on, but I told him it was too much hard work. I went into the Navy and became an electronics tech.
Enjoy! Thanks for all the previous comments, ratings and favorites.

"The young grow up too fast in a war zone." Somebody told me that, once... Nice tribute - background looks like it came from the period. Thanks for sharing.

The background is the metal frame that the picture came in.
