Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Superb capture Bill. God Bless.

I love the composition, Bill, so much depth that they can walk to. My eye keeps walking their path. Clive

I love the light on the rock, highlighting the vegetation and the birds. It's such a great place to visit ... I'll look forward to a return trip!

Oooh! What planet is that on? I just love it when geology decides to do something nice, and a collaboration with oceanography works so well, as you captured here! WOW! You know, when science fiction writers are looking for ideas, they go scouring their source material for images like this. Back in the old days, it was stuff in folders (and on index cards) unless you happened to be Ursula K. LeGuin...she could just jump in her car and drive a couple of miles and actually see stuff like this (It actually inspired a lot of her non-science fiction, especially the stories collected in Searoad.) I love this image! If I blink, just right, and let my imagination go running around like a kid with scissors, I can see a couple of moons over thataway, and some interesting airships allowing people to see the rocks up close without actually disturbing the inhabitants (interesting creatures) who make their homes on those rocks! This is brilliant and moving photography!

GREAT shot !

This is one extremely beautiful image Bill. A couple of puffy clouds and it would be a masterpiece of photography, I like the angle you have taken it.

A lovely morning shot Bill, and just the right amount of mist! A favorite place to me!
durleybeachbum
Seeing those people in this shot really brings home the scale. But my real pleasure in this lovely photo is feeling I am there, smelling the ozone and relishing the spring..

Woe! What a fantastic shot! And what a erm....lump! Totally epic! Well taken, I'm really glad you dragged this from the files Bill.. Rob

Many things I didn't know: how big it actually is, and that you could walk up to it at low tide, for a couple. How amazing!!! This is a fantastic shot, and it looks even bigger than 235 feet here. I have to say I've never been here, and there's no excuse at all.
Faemike55
Very good shot and cool information

WOW! That must be the biggest haystack I have ever seen and also the most beautiful one. A really perfect shot and you just let such a lovely shot lie there and rotten in your file folder. OH MAN !! I glad it finally got famous, as it deserves, before it became too pale. ;-) LUV the two guys to the left :)

This is truly an awesome place. You can't help but be impressed by the whole area and you caught that feeling so well!!

Great shot. I love the Oregon coast - a real target rich environment for photographers. I'm tossing around the idea of a road trip up there in the fall.

Very beautiful seaside capture Bill! The people in this photo give scale to that rock formation.

Just added Haystack Rock on my bucket list! Awesome image and brilliant scale Bill.

thats a beauty, and the mist adds a wonderful touch

Superbly cool DOF and atmosphere in this excellent shot, Bill. The haystack configuration is striking.

A superb capture with this beautiful rock making a great focal point. I love beaches with big rocks loaming up from the sand.

Great capture Bill and interesting information. I have been along that coast in February 1981 and took some pictures similar to this one (the weather wasn't nearly as nice and it was high tide). I can't find my pictures and I know the quality of the photos was pretty poor.
dakotabluemoon
Wow dude this is very interesting and thanks for the info on it.
flavia49
wonderful seascape
aksirp
oh, such a great picture, superb mood, love the DOF and everything in this!,,
blondeblurr
In sync OK! - marvellous capture of the two people in front and perfectly balanced against the Haystack, also the fine sea-mist in the lower parts of it. a wonderful composition, Bill BB
moochagoo
Nearly a scifi atmosphere.

The atmosphere is outstanding. The whole picture is so nicely balanced, with these two people in the foreground, the footprints in the wet sand, that great giant of a rock, the sea fog, and that one seagull in the air. The picture is a great whole. Thank you too for all the information, Bill.

That's an amazing shot, Bill! The figures really give a sense of scale to the large formation in the background. So next time you go out there are you going to get a shot from the top of that thing? LOL!
