My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Fantastic capture Tara! looks like this is a great camera

Oooo, really like the low light capability demonstrated here...on the Oxygen, On-Off switch. No camera that we own today could get this photo without flash. And kudos for staying true to your artsy style:)

No clue what it is.. I was just thinking it's a really cool photo.. kinda like abstract art.

Pretty cool although I don't think anyone would know what it is unless you told us. Curious paintjob. OXY ON in white, GEN OFF with no paint. What's that all about.

Soooo mysterious! I wouldn't venture into that void alone.

I love it Tara! You had great fun doing the evaluation. Clive

Very intriguing Tara.

Although I like the dim warmth to the shot, it might have been a good place to test the higher ISO to see how noisy it gets at the high end. I tried one of these today too as well as the 5D MK3, both are impressive!
alanwilliams
intriguingly mysterious, a lovely shot
MrsRatbag
Nicely done! I don't see any noise, so the setup must have passed that test.

Excellent and a bit mysterious shot :-)

great compo, Tara!

You know when I saw the title, I just knew it was going to be some part of an airplane! LOL! This really has a beautiful steam punk look to it, Tara! You did a fantastic job in such low light - and I don't think the image would have had the same appeal if it would've been brilliantly lighted. This lighting is absolutely perfect - and you did a great job capturing the feel.

I agree with bmac :)

I like that low light Tara. Soon I have to check my Canon EOS 60D and see if I can do something like that. As to the Lancaster, word had it that our neighborhood in Berlin got wiped out by one of those big bombs the Lancaster could carry. It wiped out most of the block in the big raid on Berlin in late November 1943. We had left in August of that year and went to Sudetenland (now Czech Republic). My mother was from there, of course when she was born it was part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. I remember seeing a few Lancaster during the Berlin Airlift and of course I have seen the Canadian Lancaster at the Mid-Atlantic show a few times.

Great low light shot.. And thanks for telling us and the link.. I have of course seen one of these big boys thundering across the skies many a time.. Impressive... Nice one Tara! Rob

I like this! After watching Battlestar Galactica, I could easily see this in a raptor, or under the instrument panel of a viper mk. 1, not the snazzy new ones. The color tones are so delicious in that way that low light produces. I love the way the darkness dominates, but doesn't overpower this image. Unfortunately, I don't know much about planes, despite the fact that I love them. I really dig the crisp, metal and the soft light. As another friend of mine would say (with an accent from over thataway): "Zis is sexy." (Yeah, he's one of those friends who can't pronounce the "th" sound. Or as someone else quite special would say: This is enough good.
