Description
There was quite a bit of petrified wood at Bisti Badlands & some pieces like these were pretty large. I picked up a couple of small chips laying on the ground & brought them home for my grandson. I have no idea how these logs ended up sitting on top of these vertical formations like this...

I love this landscape. What a compelling place! I could wander around in there for hours. Bread crumbs, you say? :)

What a fascinating place. Is that log petrified? It looks like it was cut with a saw blade on the end...another mystery to add to this stop.

Now we're talking!! This is what I go into the outdoors for. Dinosaur bone, Jasper, Smoky Quartz Crystals, Topaz Crystals, Agate, arrowheads, beads etc. Nice shot!

I understand the process and the condition/position that the logs are at. Great capture

Wowwww what an amazing landscape in the Bisti Badlands. Unique to see the petrified wood in this way. I really enjoy this series. I checked on internet and in the past we have been twice in the area, if it was known to me, I would have made a little detour!! Thanks for sharing this series!! Henk

I was driving cross country in the 60's in my 50 Chevy.I was needing gas money and for food so I worked at Grand Cavern Caverns for one day moving petrified wood around the property. let me tell you that stuff is very heavy. superb landscape and capture

This POV shows off both types of formations - the best of Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. And no crowds!
