Description
This goodly & gallant knight holds the record for the piece it's taken me the longest to finish. (Not counting a couple WIPs I've set aside for various reasons.) According to the dates on the older .car files, I started working on this commission for Donovan's Heroes on Demand series last November.
What took me so long?! Everything. First I chose this project to try and learn to do my own textures in GIMP--don't ask. Then there were 2 or 3 times we were without electricity--one, as you might recall, lasting 4+ COLD days. On top of that, there were some things I couldn't figure out how to do, and my mentor, Spacer_01, & I had schedules that just wouldn't mesh until a few days ago.
But finally pretty much everything except custom textures came together. I even finally got the hang of a few things in the materials tab. Am still amazed that the shader presets are click & drag! I put a lot of work in the mat tab on the Ecu 2 Shield (Sebastien's Rendo freebie) and the Charger Horse Fantasy Tack (Daz 3D). Other models include Charger Horse, Castle Creator, Mike 4, & Valiant/Dauntless (Daz 3D) & Fidelis for Valiant (Faaeria's Rendo freebie). Gryphon device on shield added in postwork, as is sig.
Thanks to Spacer_01 for all the help and to Dono for giving me this opportunity.
I also found time to write a short piece, published on the Gaming Security Agency website about how I came to be an amateur artist. It's at http://gsa.thegamernation.org/2013/01/22/confessions-of-an-amatuer-rpg-artist/
