Description
Today at the Nursing Home.
Mildred Gillett was born in Poole 1n 1909 was and was once the Headmistress of a local Primary School.
She is still amazingly schoolmarmy, and enjoys seeing Rosie. She sometimes does a voice for the dog as in " I don't think I want to talk to this silly old woman today" etc.
I know a retired teacher whose very first job was working for Mildred, and the memory of the fear is still vivid!
She has written several very interesting local history books, including "Wandering in Talbot Village"

An image that qualifies for the category of poignant, as are many of your nursing home pics. Rosie projects complete empathy. As I gaze upon this scene, it is becomes more and more evident that Mildred, except for her missing teeth, looks better than me, even at her ultra advanced age.

I can imagine her striking fear into the hearts of young teachers everywhere! :) She has "the look," even though she's been retired for ages. Some people just end up in the right job. If I were in bed a lot, I think I should like it very much if Rosie came to visit.

Rosie is doing a wonderful job and Mildred seems very appreciative of Rosie's work. Mildred has that teacher's look. I remember that look from eons ago when I was a mere child in school.
