Description

I took this shot from my front door this morning. A convoy of Australian Defense Force were leaving town after our big flood. They repaired bridges & roads & did all that was required of them, some had been to Afghanistan, we won't forget them.We all got in & helped , we emptied out entire houses on to the street ready for removal. On a brighter note before they left, they had an Aussie game of cricket against the fire fighters, who hosed out all the houses, ending with all the left over fireworks from the cancelled Australia Day celebrations. Still heaps to do. I thank you all for your comments. Glenda

Happy belated Australia Day for yesterday! Cool TY message, really I'm not sure what we would do without them including the SES and lots of other volunteers.

Great capture. Just like here in the US, the military always pitches in during an emergency. When I was in Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia (December 2011) I listened to the Christmas messages of the Aussies and Kiwis on radio and TV and many not only served in Afghanistan, they served in places were our soldiers don't serve, i.e. East Timor. I hope things return to normal soon.

The brave men and women that protect us are always there to help out when they are needed. I salute them!

Yes Glenda... my oldest son is now over in So. Korea and is in the USAF. Before that, he was in Afghanistan. So thank you for your acknowledgement of our armed forces and for posting this lovely picture.
