Description

This has nothing to do with Disney. (Check the title again.) A little recap of my recent computer melodrama... My computer died so I'm using a dated laptop for the time being. In this life, there are some problems that can be solved by patience. Plus, wisdom is knowing the difference between what is possible, and what is desirable. But, as we know, sometimes a rendering chokes (usually about 90% of the way through), and patience cannot solve the problem that a better computer can solve. I tried doing a "real" picture on the laptop to see if patience would make it work. Err... up to a point. This was the highest quality setting I could use (first notch that included raytracing) and be reasonably assured that it would finish. I should have made the windshield slightly more opaque, but... I'm not doing it over. The point is: I'm feeling very tempted to bite the bullet and just go out and buy that new computer.

Windshield? What windshield? Oh, there's supposed to be one there. OK. What I'M impressed with is not the super clean windshield. I'm impressed with the spectacular raytracing (reflection of Miki on the hood)! WOW! And you say your laptop is the pits! I have 3 Gb in my big computer and a laptop with less, and I can't even get near this quality! My darned machines just hang at 85% of such a render. And I can only get one V4 (or M4) into an image. Any more, and the computers hang while loading shadow maps! So I wind up with a LOT of compositing. Sigh... This looks great. No need to rush your purchase of a new machine. And, my best regards to you-know-who (T.Rex is breathing down my neck and prodding me with his claws)! Keep up the good work! :-)

A bit of a gender bender I'd say. And, let's just say that Miki likes her fast machine and keeps the motor (and windscreen) clean.

Based on what you've stated before, this is one fine render, given the limitations set upon you with the laptop. Think about this: look at the power that the new machines have right now and then look at the price then think back just a few years ago and what you'd have to pay for that same power. I'm looking to get another computer (gaming version) just to do renders

Chapeau! Looks like you're a magician. Ok, sometimes patience does magic.
